They recalled that Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto once said that workers were the backbone of the country and that without them, the dream of development was impossible.Khwaja Yawar Naseer noted that, for the first time in Pakistan’s history, Shaheed Bhutto introduced the first labour policy in 1972. Under this policy, workers were not only given constitutional protection but were also granted revolutionary rights, including participation in industrial institutions, a minimum wage, social security, and trade union rights. He said the PPP remains committed to this vision, believing that honouring, protecting, and ensuring the rights of labourers is the state’s foremost responsibility.
