SC acquits mother imprisoned for encouraging daughter for abuse

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Thursday acquitted a mother imprisoned for the last seven years over alleged allegations of encouraging her daughter for abuse.

The three member Shariat Appallete bench headed by Justice Asif Saeed Khan Khosa heard the case filed by Jaan Pari against her conviction.

The bench remarked that according to details of the case, the mother did not sell the daughter as the girl was herself involved in immoral activities. The Women Protection Ordinance 2006 was not applicable in tribal areas, the court observed.

Justice Asif Saeed Khan Khosa remarked that the girl was recovered from a men’s police station while she should have been handed over to the women’s police. He remarked that the accused spent seven years in jail in a suspected case.Later the court acquitted the accused over lack of evidence.
