Our economy and environment are not separate entities and are inseparably linked. And yet, the policies of Pakistan continue to sacrifice nature in the name of economic progress. This destruction will inevitably come back to haunt us in the form of floods, failing crops, and an unlivable climate. If we fail to shift toward a sustainable economic model now, the losses will be unrecoverable. Critics argue that Pakistan cannot afford green policies. To the contrary, it is the lack of green policies that we cannot afford. Sustainable practices like renewable energy, eco-friendly urban planning and responsible agriculture will create jobs, attract global investment, and secure long-term economic stability.
It is no longer a question of if we should act, but whether we will act before the point of no return. A green perspective must shape our policies now, enabling us to avoid a future where survival itself becomes a struggle. As the global economy shifts towards sustainability, countries that fail to act risk economic isolation. Pakistan must integrate environmental responsibility into all policies, from industrial strategies to education.
