Investigation ordered into mugging video making rounds on social media
The District East police chief on Wednesday initiated an investigation into a video of mugging incident inside an ATM outlet and ordered the arrest of the culprits.
SSP Farrukh Raza, chief of the District East police, said that a video was being shared on social media and WhatsApp groups, in which a person could be seen withdrawing money from an ATM. As he came out, another person came and snatched money from him.
The caption of video claimed that the incident took place in the Tariq Road area. Taking notice of the matter, SP Jamshed initiated an inquiry and said the area where the crime took place was not clear in the video.
Later, the East SSP issued orders that if the incident had taken place in District East, the victim be accessed immediately and the suspects brought to justice by taking action as per the procedure.
The East police chief added that the protection of people's lives and property should be ensured during the last days of the holy month of Ramazan and Eidul Fitr. He directed that especially before the Eid holidays, security arrangements should be made for those going to banks and using ATMs.
