Timely completion of sports schemes ordered
LAHORE:Punjab Sports and Youth Affairs Secretary Muzaffar Khan Sial has said that maintaining standard of work in ongoing sports schemes is ‘our top priority and special care should be given to maintenance of completed sports facilities.’
The secretary expressed these views while chairing a meeting of the Departmental Subcommittee at Punjab Stadium on Thursday. The meeting was convened to review the progress on multiple sports development projects across the province. Two new and eight ongoing sports development schemes were reviewed in the meeting with a special focus on timely completion and quality of construction work.
Director General Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Khizar Afzaal Chaudhry, Director Admin Dr M Kaleem, Project Director PMU Qaiser Raza, officials from the Planning & Development (P&D), Project Management Unit and Finance Departments participated in the meeting.
Speaking at the meeting, Muzaffar has directed the officials concerned to complete the ongoing development schemes as per given completion date. “Shafiq Chishti Kabaddi Stadium will be inaugurated in Sahiwal in near future. Besides this, the Gymnasium Hall, Football Ground Gao Shala and Elite Training Centre will be completed in the current financial year”, he said.
The secretary added that the upgradation work at Nishtar Park Sports Complex will be completed by June this year. “Nawaz Sharif Hockey Ground, Prototype Stadium and Volleyball Court in Sialkot will also be completed by June this year,” he added.
Meanwhile, chairing another meeting regarding Gujranwala Division sports schemes, the secretary said that work on 18 sports schemes is underway in Gujranwala Division. “Wrestling Complex Sheranwala will be completed by June this year”.
