Nadia Hussain apologises to FIA for bribery allegations
Model and actress Nadia Hussain visited the Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) Cyber Crime Circle (CCC) office on Monday with her lawyer after being summoned for an inquiry.
On March 14 a CCC team had seized Nadia’s mobile phone as part of their investigation. According to the FIA, someone impersonating a senior FIA officer by using his display picture on WhatsApp had contacted Nadia to demand a bribe. The FIA aims to trace him through the seized phone.
An inquiry against Nadia is currently under way at the CCC. The FIA said that instead of formally lodging a complaint, she made baseless allegations against the agency on social media. After visiting the FIA, Nadia talked to the media outside the CCC office, calling for strict action against scammers. She demanded strict action against fraudsters who deceive people through online scams.
She emphasised the need for accountability. “I want effective action against fraudsters because such scams cause distress to people. These scammers trap innocent individuals in their schemes.”
She said scammers operate entirely through WhatsApp, insisting that all communication be done via WhatsApp calls. “I don’t know how they will be caught if all contact is made through WhatsApp.”
Addressing concerns about FIA official Nauman Siddiqui, she clarified: “If my social media post affected his position, it was unintentional. I never meant to target FIA officials. My only intention was to expose this fraud.”
Nadia urged that such fraudsters not be allowed to operate freely and be held accountable by law. She pointed out that the CCC is yet to complete the forensic examination of her phone. She, however, made the assurance that she is fully cooperating in the investigation. “I have no issue with them keeping my phone until the forensic process is complete.”
She suggested creating an awareness video about the FIA to educate the public on handling such situations. “Anyone facing such fraud should immediately file a complaint on the FIA’s cybercrime portal. I had filed my complaint online but was unaware that I needed to visit the FIA office in person.”
She said that due to her scepticism, she had recorded the scam call as evidence. “I want to ensure that people don’t feel helpless in such situations. The best course of action is to report it officially rather than being afraid.”
