Police have filed a supplementary charge sheet against Armaghan, the prime suspect in Mustafa Amir murder case, in a case pertaining to threats to a lawyer.

The Boat Basin police had registered an FIR against the accused in April 2024 for allegedly threatening the lawyer representing the complainant in two cases against him. Armaghan had been declared an absconder in the present case over no-show.

The IO filed the supplementary charge sheet before a South judicial magistrate, stating that Armaghan was arrested by the Anti-Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) after an encounter last month.

The IO said he obtained permission from the anti-terrorism court-I to interrogate and formally arrest the accused in this case. During interrogation inside the Central Jail Karachi, Armaghan confessed to the crime, after which he was arrested in the present case as well, the IO said and requested the magistrate to accept the charge sheet and proceed with the case against him. On April 25, 2024, the FIR was lodged under Section 25-D of the Telegraph Act on the complaint of Advocate Saif Ali Khan Jatoi. The complainant said he was representing the complainant in two cases lodged against Armaghan registered at the Darakhshan and Gizri police stations.

On April 22, 2024, he added, Armaghan contacted him via WhatsApp and used abusive language. He issued death threats, warning that he would have to suffer severe consequences if he did not withdraw himself from the cases. Armaghan is in police custody in Mustafa Amir murder case.

Earlier this week, the investigation officer of the murder case informed the anti-terrorism court that Armaghan was an absconder and wanted in eight cases. The AVCC last month booked him in three more cases after he encountered with a police team during a raid at his residence and over possession of illegal firearms.
