Brutal schedule

Earlier this week, the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) announced a gas loadshedding schedule for Karachi during Ramazan, with supply suspended from 9 am to 3 pm and 10 pm to 3 am. This decision will make it extremely difficult for people to prepare for Iftar, worsening the hardships for families already suffering from inconsistent supply.
Adding to the crisis, Pakistan’s gas reserves are depleting at a rapid rate. Yet, there seems to be no long-term plan in place to address this looming energy crisis. The government and relevant authorities must take urgent steps to ensure a stable and sustainable gas supply, including investing in alternative energy sources and improving distribution management.
