May 9 incidents: SC gives Punjab govt 10 days for submitting JIT reports

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Thursday gave ten days to Punjab government for submitting report of Joint Investigation Team (JIT) regarding incidents of May 9 and adjourned the case for date-in-office (Indefinite period)

A three-member bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Yahya Afridi and comprising Justice Muhammad Shafi and Justice Miangul Hassan Aurnagzeb heard the appeals of the Punjab government against the relief granted by the lower courts to the PTI workers, allegedly involved in May 9 incidents. Additional Prosecutor General Punjab sought 10 day period for submitting reports of Joint Investigation Team (JIT) in the case which the court accepted and issued order for fixing all the cases related to My 9 incidents in second week of March.

It is pertinent to mention here that the said bench the other day had also allowed the Additional Prosecutor General Punjab to submit reports of JIT while hearing the identical cases.
