RAWALPINDI: Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs), acting on intelligence-based information, arrested a suspicious individual near Faizabad, approximately a kilometre from Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, on Thursday at midday.

The suspect, identified as Hazrat Jamal, hailing from Peshawar, was found in possession of a loaded firearm and a suspicious jacket, according to police sources Following his arrest, the suspect was shifted to a police station for further investigation. Security officials handling the case confirmed that the jacket was handed over to the Civil Defence Department for examination. After thorough checking, it was declared clear of any explosives. During interrogation, the suspect claimed that jacket was a self-made bulletproof vest, which he allegedly used for personal protection against his enemies. However, police officials are continuing their investigation to determine any potential links to criminal activities or security threats. The arrest comes amid heightened security measures in Rawalpindi due to the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, with authorities on high alert to prevent any security breaches. Security forces are expected to release further details as the investigation unfolds.
