LAHORE:The Emergency Services Department (ESD) responded to 1,275 road traffic accidents in all districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours.
In these accidents, 13 people died, whereas 1,476 were injured. Out of these, 637 people with serious injuries were shifted to different hospitals, while 839 victims with minor injuries were treated at the incident site by Rescue medical teams.
Body of newborn found
Body of a newborn girl was found on Ghazi Road in the limits of Ichhara police on Thursday.
The body was noticed by passersby near a milk shop, prompting them to inform the emergency services. On receiving the alert, a Rescue 1122 team arrived at the scene and handed over the body to the police.
Police suspect that the infant was abandoned soon after birth, possibly to conceal an act deemed a social stigma. Local police have shifted the body to the morgue for post-mortem examination and have initiated a search for the individuals responsible for discarding the child in such a brutal manner.
