Double gold each for Pakistan, Afghanistan

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Afghanistan shared third day’s honours securing 2 gold medals each in the Asian Grade-1 Taekwondo Championship underway here at the Liaquat Gymnasium.
Afghanistan team also scooped up two gold medals beating local rivals. Tamim Rehmani and Akeed won gold outwitting Pakistan players. In an all-Pakistan affair, the female -44kg category, Pakistan’s Anwar Ayesha achieved a remarkable feat by winning gold. In yet another all-Pakistan affair in the female -49kg category, Khan Aiman clinched gold, and Fatima Ghouse secured silver. Khawakani Fatima Tuz Zahra and Khan Khadija took home bronze medals, further solidifying Pakistan’s dominance in women’s taekwondo.
