Doctor abducted in Waziristan
WANA: The worsening security situation in Lower South Waziristan has once again come to light as unidentified armed men abducted a doctor from the Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) medical centre in Sharif Khan Kot, Azam Warsak area of the district.
The assailants also robbed the staff before taking Dr Nauman away on a motorcycle. The local community condemned the incident, demanding urgent action for the doctor’s safe return. They warned that if such insecurity continues, aid organisations may withdraw, leaving thousands without medical care.
“The authorities must act before the situation further deteriorates,” a local tribal elder told The News who wished not to be named. It is worth mentioning that the PRCS provides free healthcare and ambulance services in the region.
