Kurram students seek facilities to secure admissions
PARACHINAR: The students in Kurram district on Wednesday complained that they would lose their admission to national and international educational institutions if the roads were not opened in the district forthwith.
Speaking at a press conference in Parachinar, student leaders Tasawur Hussain, Sajid Abbas, Ibne Ali, Irfan, Ghayyur Abbas, and Musaddiq Hussain said that dozens of students had secured admissions in various institutions within the country and abroad.
However, they said that due to blockade of roads they are unable to reach their respective institutions, which would result in the cancellation of their admissions. The students said that if immediate arrangements were not made to transport them to Peshawar, they would have no choice but to stage a protest sit-in.
Murtaza Hussain, a resident of upper Kurram, said that he had secured admission in the United States, but due to his inability to reach the embassy for an interview, he would miss both the interview and his admission, which had left him extremely distressed.
Musaddiq Hussain, a resident of Orakzai district, said that he had been working in Parachinar as an engineer for the last one year.He said he recently secured admission in
Russia, but due to the road blockades, he was stranded and unable to reach Peshawar. He urged the government to provide either a convoy or a helicopter service to facilitate transportation of students to Peshawar.
