Muqam rules out military operation in Malakand
MINGORA: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) leader and Federal Minister Amir Muqam on Monday said that terrorism was the biggest challenge in the Malakand division but no military operation would be conducted.
Addressing a gathering of the Peshawar High Court, Mingora Bench, Bar Association here, he said that the peace achieved in the area through matchless sacrifices by the local people would not be compromised.
“There is no military operation taking place in Malakand division rather a targeted operation was being carried out,” he said, assuring that the people would not face displacement again.The minister also talked about the tax exemption status for the Malakand division because of the sacrifices rendered by the people of Malakand and the merged districts.
He lauded the role played by lawyers and bar associations in the passage of the 26th Constitutional Amendment.The federal minister said that lawyers had not only been instrumental in shaping the legal landscape of the country but had also contributed significantly to the building of Pakistan and ensuring its security.
The minister remarked, “The founder of Pakistan, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, was a lawyer, and lawyers have played a crucial role in the progress and security of our nation.”He said that the government was actively taking steps to meet the demand for justice through the prompt trials of pending cases.
Amir Muqam also spoke about the achievements of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) government, which he credited with saving the country from financial collapse within 16 months.
He said the country made economic achievements under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.The federal minister urged the people to unite against militancy and terrorism and help the government to put the country back on track to development and prosperity.
