TANK: A sub-engineer of the Gomal Zam Dam Irrigation Division in Dera Ismail Khan, who was kidnapped from the Lower Batiari area in the jurisdiction of Gomal Bazaar Police Station in Tank has been released by captors, police said Thursday.

“Sub-engineer Abdul Subhan, who was kidnapped by unidentified armed men, has been rescued and has safely returned home,” said District Police Officer (DPO) Aslam Nawaz Khan. The DPO stated that the sub-engineer was in the Lower Batiari area on a site inspection of the seven-kilometer drainage channel under construction for the dam when unidentified armed men kidnapped him, along with a contractor’s supervisor and other workers, to an unknown location.

The contractor’s supervisor and other workers were released after a few hours, but the sub-engineer was taken away. After the kidnapping, a large contingent of police arrived at the scene, cordoned off the area, and pursued the kidnappers.

The kidnappers were forced to release the sub-engineer due to the police’s pressure, the DPO claimed. He emphasized that the police’s swift response and persistent efforts led to the safe recovery of Abdul Subhan, who has now reunited with his family.
