ISLAMABAD: The official website of the district and sessions courts of Islamabad has been launched for the convenience of lawyers and litigants.
Lawyers and litigants will now have access to information about their cases on a single click without having to come to court. Thanks to the website, lawyers and litigants will be able to get interim orders, upcoming hearing dates and decisions of cases while sitting at home.
Islamabad High Court (IHC) Chief Justice Aamir Farooq inaugurated the website and termed the disposal of more than one lakh cases in a year for the first time in the history of the district judiciary a result of better support from lawyers and the tireless work of judicial officers. On Friday, when he reached the district courts to inaugurate the website, he was warmly welcomed by District and Sessions Judge Islamabad West Muhammad Azam Khan, District and Sessions Judge Islamabad East Muhammad Yar Gondal, Additional Sessions Judges and Superintendent Chaudhry Muhammad Siddique. Additional judges of Islamabad East and West Zeba Chaudhry, Muhammad Afzal Majuka, Chaudhry Amir Zia, Adnan Rasool Lark, Javed Iqbal Supra, Abdul Ghafoor Kakar, Sheikh Muhammad Sohail, Rana Mujahid, Muhammad Bashir Bhatti, Hasina Saqlain, Rasool Bakhsh Mir Jat, Raja Asif Mahmood, Abdul Hafeez Memon, Agha Haroon, Muhammad Jahangir and Muhammad Amir Aziz Khan, along with senior civil judges, Superintendent Chaudhry Muhammad Siddique, Secretary to Chief Justice Noor Mirza and others were also present at the website inaugural ceremony.
In-charge IT Department Islamabad High Court Umar Dar gave a detailed briefing to the participants about the website and informed that the website includes special features for searching cases and judgments. Along with final judgments, interim orders of each hearing date will also be available on a click. Pleaders and lawyers can search for their cases by the FIR number, case number or case title, lawyer or judge name while sitting at home.
Later, IHC Chief Justice Aamir Farooq also inaugurated the Central Library, established on the court premises. Office-bearers and lawyers of the District Bar Association were present in large numbers. He recalled that 82,000 cases were disposed of in the district judiciary in 2023, while 119,000 cases were disposed of in the year 2024. District Bar Association President Raja Muhammad Shakeel Abbasi and Secretary Hassan Soroush also spoke and informed that the Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) had donated legal books worth more than Rs5 million to the bar central library.
