Education department announces science and arts competition
The Sindh education department has organised a science and arts competition for schoolchildren in Karachi to nurture their hidden talents.
A notification issued by Private Schools Additional Director Rafia Javed was sent to the principals and administrators of all the privately managed schools in Karachi, which read “the Directorate of Inspection and Registration of Private Institutions Sindh is organizing a Science Exhibition under the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics).
According to the education department, the initiative’s objective is to inspire scientific curiosity and develop creativity among students by providing them with a unique platform to display their talents. The event will also help as a valuable opportunity for raising awareness about global issues and encouraging collaborative learning and friendly competition.
Students will submit exhibition projects on given topics including climate change, alternative energy resources, artificial intelligence and artificial rain.
In the math and art contest, students will be invited to create artworks or designs that incorporate mathematical concepts such as tessellations, fractals or geometric shapes. In the poster competition, students will be invited to design posters that express philosophical concepts inspired by the poetry of Hazrat Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai highlighting the theme of ‘struggle’ and poems by Dr Muhammad Allama Iqbal centered on the symbol of ‘Shaheen’.
The notification explained that the students from grades 6 to 12 will be invited to participate in the competitions with separate categories for grades 6-8, 9-10, and 11-12. Schools were also told to nominate their students for one or more of the topics.
