‘Primary, secondary healthcare being improved’
LAHORE
Adviser to Chief Minister on Health Kh Salman Rafique has said that provision of quality healthcare facilities to the remote districts is the priority of the government for which primary and secondary healthcare system is being strengthened.
He said a comprehensive plan is being implemented for the provision of missing facilities at DHQ and THQ hospitals.
This was stated by him while presiding over a weekly meeting in Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department on Thursday, according to a handout issued here. Besides, Secretary Primary and Secondary Health Ali Jan Khan, DG Health Dr Mukhtar Hussain Syed, Additional Secretary Admin Adnan Zafar, Additional Secretary Development Dr Faisal, Director PSPU Muhammad Khan Ranjha and other officers concerned of the department and PITB attended the meeting.
The meeting reviewed in detail the ongoing development schemes in the department, Disease Prevention Programme, promotions and recruitment of doctors/nurses.
The meeting was informed that a new scheme had been introduced to overcome the dearth of anesthesia doctors in DHQ and THQ hospitals, according to the scheme, private anesthetists offered to get registered with DHQ and THQ hospitals, government would pay them Rs2,500 per case. It was informed that it was advertised in the newspapers.
The meeting reviewed the promotion cases of MOs, WMOs, APMOs and WAPMOs to their next grade.
It was informed that website of Primary and Secondary Health had also been installed with the help of PITB and all notifications and other necessary documents were being loaded on the website for the convenience of all concerned. The department has also planned clustering of Basic Health Units for the improvement of working and provision of health facilities to the local population. The meeting also took stock of the procurement of medicines and chemicals.
Additional Secretary Adnan Zafar informed that screening programme of prisoners had been launched in the province under which 50,000 prisoners would be screened out against various infectious diseases. A Central Complaint Mechanism is also being evolved with the help of PITB at all DHQ hospitals, he added.
Action: City District Government Lahore (CDGL) has started a drive against hotels and food outlets violating Ahtram-e-Ramazan Ordinance in the provincial metropolis.
Lahore DCO directed all TMOs to take strict action against hotels, restaurants and food spots operative in the city during the daytime. He directed the TMOs to arrest the management of such places as well as their customers.
