KSrelief launches food security programme in KP
Distribution took place in camp in district Hangu, providing timely relief to displaced families in need
ISLAMABAD: The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) has launched a major initiative to combat food insecurity among vulnerable communities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and its merged districts.
The initiative is part of the first cycle of Food Security Support Project (FSSP) for 2024-25, which aims to distribute 10,000 food packages across 14 districts in the province, targeting individuals living below the poverty line.
The initiative has active collaboration of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Relief, Rehabilitation, and Settlement Department (RR&SD) and KP’s Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA).
As part of this effort, 500 food packages were distributed among the displaced beneficiaries from Kurram district, who are currently residing in Tehsil Thall and facing urgent food insecurity. The distribution took place in a camp in district Hangu, providing timely relief to the displaced families in need. Each food package, weighing 95 kilogrammes, contains 80 kilogrammes of flour, 5 liters of cooking oil, 5 kilogrammes of sugar, and 5 kilogrammes of chickpeas. The distribution was carried out with full transparency in coordination with the district and local authorities and with the assistance of KSrelief’s partner, the Peace and Development Organisation (PADO).
According to the KSrelief officials, the initiative highlights KSrelief’s ongoing commitment to supporting vulnerable communities and addressing food insecurity across Pakistan. Through collaborative efforts with local and national stakeholders, KSrelief continues to make a significant impact in improving the lives of those in need.
Earlier, the KSrelief announced the launch of its latest food security initiative in Pakistan for 2024-2025 two weeks ago. The initiative was launched by Saudi Arabia’s ambassador Nawaf bin Saeed Ahmad Al-Maliky in Saudi mission. The food security project aims to benefit over 1 million people in Pakistan.
