LAHORE:The city’s temperature dropped to 3°C whereas AQI deteriorated further here on Thursday. The average AQI in the city was 291, which came in the category of very unhealthy, data collected from IQAir revealed. The provincial capital is ranked first in the list of world’s top ten most polluted cities across the world. The IQAir data showed that the PM2.5 concentrations were 43.2 times the World Health Organization annual PM2.5 guideline value.

The most polluted localities of the city included Polo Ground Cantt (463), Askari 10 (445), Defence Road (437), Hiking & Mountaineering Club GCU (425), Pakistan Engineering Services (Pvt) Ltd, Defence phase V (404), CERP Office Gulberg Mini Market (392), Thokar (352), Grand Charter School Model Town Link Road (320), Tufail Road near Rahat Bakery (316) and Syed Maratib Ali Road (312).

Meanwhile, the MET office said continental air was prevailing over most parts of the country. Moderate to dense fog (in patches) was likely in plain areas of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and upper Sindh in night / morning hours. Frost was likely in Islamabad, Pothohar region, Kashmir and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during morning hours. Thursday’s lowest minimum temperature was recorded at Leh where mercury dropped down to -11°C while in Lahore it was 3°C and maximum was 19.5°C.
