Governor asks all institutions to develop accountability system
LAHORE:Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider has said all institutions should develop a system of accountability, adding the country is threatened by internal and external conspiracies and ‘we all have to fight these conspiracies by forging unity among our ranks.’
The governor said this while presiding over the graduation ceremony of the 121st National Management Course at the National School of Public Policy here on Thursday. Sardar Saleem Haider said that National School of Public Policy is playing an important role in training civil servants, meeting the challenges of good governance and public service delivery.
He said that civil servants should spare no effort for the betterment of society and serving the people. The governor said that they should keep in mind the national interest and public welfare, adding all institutions should develop a system of accountability.
We need a national charter in which politicians, judges and bureaucrats together should play a positive role in the development of the country. The country is threatened by internal and external conspiracies and we all have to fight these conspiracies by forging unity among our ranks, he said. The governor added that seeking financial assistance from IMF and powerful countries is shameful, stressing, ‘We should strength our economy and rely on our own sources.’
Later, a delegation of Anjuman Tajran Lahore led by Haji Mian Tariq Feroz met with Sardar Saleem Haider Khan at Governor House. The delegation was comprised of representatives from different markets of Lahore. Speaking on the occasion, the governor said that the business community is the backbone of the country's economy.
We all have to work together to get the country and the province out of difficulties. Strengthening of the business community in the country would improve the economy and create employment opportunities in the society. It is also commendable that business community also actively participates in welfare works. Problems of the business community should be resolved on priority basis, he said.
