MANSEHRA: Police have arrested several individuals accused of uploading videos displaying firearms on various social media platforms across the district.
“We have launched a crackdown against TikTokers, social media influencers, and account holders showcasing arms in their videos. Many have been arrested along with weapons and ammunition,” District Police Officer Shafiullah Khan Gandapur told reporters at his office here on Wednesday.
He said the drive was conducted across all 17 police station jurisdictions in the district to discourage the public display of firearms on social media and TikTok accounts.
“Youngsters have also been uploading celebratory firing footage on social media. We have also taken legal action against such individuals,” he added.
“We have arrested violators under the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Arms Act 2013 and seized the weapons displayed or used in celebratory firing,” Gandapur said.
He said that a control room with a landline number had been activated to address such violations promptly, as celebratory gunfire could endanger lives.
