India edge Pakistan to win Junior Asia Cup
KARACHI: India’s defeated Pakistan by 5-3 goals in the Men’s Junior Asia Cup 2024 final on Wednesday in Oman. India’s Araijeet Singh Hundal proved the most dangerous player for Pakistan in the final match who netted four goals.
Pakistan fought with brave heart and despite going two goal down came back in the final match with outstanding performance of Penalty Corner (PC) specialist Sufyan Khan who netted two successive goals during the third quarter.
Pakistan took the lead in the early minutes of first quarter when captain Hanan Shahid scored. India carried out a counter attack and due to poor marking of Pakistani defenders India got a PC. Araijeet Sindh dragged the ball in the goal post. Then India played aggressively and conducted repeated attacks and smashed Pakistani defenders and scored two more goals and put Pakistan under immense pressure. Till the end of second quarter India was winning by 3-1 but Pakistani bounced back and its forwards continued struggle.
