Instead of implementing the orders of the Wapda secretary, SEPCO posted officials to key posts
SUKKUR: The Sukkur Electric Supply Company (Sepco) posted as many as 21 officials, already on FIA’s radar, while its losses soared from Rs16 billion to Rs48 billion.
The News has learnt then the secretary Wapda by taking a notice of the corruption, irregularities shared with FIA a list of officials who were allegedly involved in corruption in the Sepco with the FIA with the recommendation of not posting them till the completion of the inquiry.
Sources said that the Sepco, instead of implementing the orders of the Wapda secretary, had posted these officials to key posts like chief engineer, superintending engineer, XEN, manager (M&T), etc.
Sources said that with such posting the revenue, transmission and recovery losses of the Sepco increased to Rs48 billion from Rs16 billion.
Sources said that anti-theft drive launched by the Sepco to meet the recovery target failed due to favouritism and nepotism based postings in key positions by the Sepco chief.
