Prince George pulls silly faces as he and Kate enjoy family outing

It was a case of like mother, like son as the Duchess of Cambridge and Prince George appeared in matching nautical-themed outfits on a family day out.

The pair both wore striped tops as they attended the Houghton International Horse Trials near their Norfolk home on Tuesday.

But the young prince could not resist pulling silly faces by blowing raspberries to signal his delight at watching the riders splash in and out of the water.

At one point, 34-year-old Kate was seen giving George’s mouth a quick clean with a wet wipe after he enjoyed a slice of cake.

The Duchess, who has made the white and navy Breton top a staple of her casual wardrobe, dressed the two-year-old prince in the same colours.

While the Duchess paired her long-sleeved Ralph Lauren top with grey skinny jeans, her son wore his striped jumper with a pair of black shorts and a blue shirt.

They were joined at the event by Prince William, who was also dressed in blue and wore a baseball cap, and one-year-old Princess Charlotte.

The young family were pictured with their friend James Meade, whose brother Harry was participating in the trials.

Their father, Richard Meade, who died last year, was Britain’s most successful Olympic equestrian. Lord Cholmondeley, who owns Houghton Hall, is also a friend of the Duke and Duchess.

Last week, it emerged that the birth of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s children was supported by a 23-strong team of medical experts and other staff.

Only a handful of midwives and others led by a consultant obstetrician were in the delivery room to supervise the birth of Prince George and Princess Charlotte, but waiting in the wings were more than a dozen experts in case of emergencies.

Theatre staff were on stand-by along with a lab technician, replacement anaesthetists and paediatricians and Professor TG (Tiong Ghee) Teoh - a back-up for the consultant - was on hand along with workers from a special baby care unit.

William and Kate met Professor Teoh, a consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist, and anaesthetist Dr Jo Bray, who were part of the support team that helped bring George and Charlotte into the world, during a Buckingham Palace garden party.

The summer event was the Duke’s first and he looked smart wearing a morning suit, black top hat and carrying an umbrella, while the Duchess wore an Alexander McQueen coat and hat by Jane Taylor.

The Queen hosted the gathering in her garden and was joined by the Duke of Edinburgh and Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice.
