Hamna, Amu lead ladies event in CNS golf
ISLAMABAD: Hamna Amjad and Amu Qin with eight over 79 on the par 71 Margalla Course lead the opening day in the ladies’ event of the Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) Golf that got underway Thursday.
Zebunnisa was further three strokes behind following the first round that saw 21 ladies’ golfers turning up for the event. Cut has been introduced for the final round of ladies’ competition with 12 top golfers to vie for the title today (Friday).
Alam Afzal turned out to be the lone leader in the senior amateur category which also started on Thursday. He carded two over 73 on the opening day to take a three–stroke lead over his closest opponent Shuaib ud Din. Amin Raja is further one stroke behind, occupying third spot with six over 77.
Abdullah Khan with the score of par 71 leads the junior category with Muhammad Abbas two-stroke behind, carding a round of two over 73.
The main category, amateur gross and net will get underway today. Country’s best amateurs will be seen in action over 54 holes in an effort to grab the main trophy.
