Inter-provincial gang of robbers busted

Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of Islamabad Police has busted an inter-provincial gang of dacoits and nabbed its five members involved in robbery incidents in various cities, a police spokesman said.

He said that senior police officials of Islamabad Police assigned the task to SP (Investigation) Muhammad Ilyas to ensure arrest of those involved in various dacoities as well as cash-snatching incidents outside banks. He constituted a special team under the supervision of CIA DSP Bashir Ahmed Noon, which included Inspector Muhammad Aslam, ASI Tanseem Ahmed and others.

The team started investigation into various cases and succeeded in arresting five dacoits involved in dacoities at Colonel Amanullah Road, Bhara Kahu, Islamabad, and various areas of twin cities. The nabbed men have been identified as Ashfaq alias Shaka, Shehzad Chaudhry, Sajjad, Rizwan Sajid and Arshad. Police also recovered weapons and ammunition from their possession.

During preliminary investigation, they confessed to injuring two brothers Ali Raza and Kaleem by firing on April 23, 2016 when they were going for payment of Rs2.6 million to their client after withdrawing cash from the UBL, Aabpara. Muhammad Kaleem succumbed to his injuries in the hospital and a case was registered at the Bhara Kahu Police Station.

They also admitted to committing dacoities in Karachi and Rawalpindi. Six cases have been found registered against them at the Naseerabad Police Station, Rawalpindi. These men have already remained jailbirds and used to snatch cash from people coming out from banks. Further investigation is underway from them.

IGP Islamabad Tariq Masood Yasin and SSP Sajid Kiani have appreciated the performance of SIU police team and announced cash prizes as well as commendation certificates for its members. The SSP Islamabad said that SIU of Islamabad Police is actively engaged against criminal elements and it has got remarkable success against criminals by pursuing the cases with dedication.
