ISLAMABAD: The Russian Football Union (RFU) has cancelled a friendly football match against Pakistan national team.
“The RFU would continue to discuss with Pakistan the possibility of a friendly match, however, based on the timeframe of the training camp that had begun, it decided not to hold the game.” The Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) was planning to send Islamabad-based footballers for the game without seeking approval from the Pakistan Football Federation’s (PFF) NC.
An official of the Islamabad Football Association (IFA) said he was asked by a PSB official to submit a list of Islamabad players so that the team could be named. “I approached the NC seeking its approval. Unless the NC permits, we cannot go ahead,” the IFA official said.
