MARDAN: The National Assembly Standing Committee on Federal Education and Professional Training on Saturday assured the officials of the Abdul Wali Khan University (AWKUM) of solving the problems being faced by the university.
The assurance came at the 16th meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committee chaired by its Chairman Col (r) Amirullah Marwat here.
Besides others, the meeting was also attended by Members National Assembly Muhammad Nazir Khan, Dr Zulfiqar Ali Bhatti, Aisha Naz Tanoli, Shaista Pervez, Amra Khan, Suriyya Asghar Khan, Dr Shazia Sobia, Dr Nikhat, Shakeel, Shahida Rehmani, and Phyllis Azeem.
Speaking on the occasion, Amirullah Marwat said the committee would forward the recommendations of AWKUM Vice-Chancellor Dr Ihsan Ali to the federal minister for planning to resolve the financial issues as well as take steps towards the construction of university building.
Earlier, AWKUM VC briefed the committee members about the issues being faced by the university. He told the participants that the university has risen to a remarkable position among the universities of the country within a short span of time despite financial constraints and other issues. He said that currently as many as 11,000 students were enrolled at the University.
Later, the committee members inspected various departments of the university and reviewed the facilities on the premises.
