Militancy-hit residents of Khyber Agency continue protest
PESHAWAR: The protest sit-in of the militancy and operation-affected people belonging to Khyber Agency continued for 18th consecutive day on Thursday.
However, they had failed to attract the attention of the authorities concerned, as no one could even bother to pay a visit to the protesting tribal people and give them any assurance of resolution of their problems.
The protest camp has been organised by the PTI, Khyber Agency chapter. Tribal elder and PTI leader Mohammad Iqbal Afridi is leading the protest.
Talking to The News, Iqbal Afridi said that they were striving for the resolution of the problems faced by the militancy and military operations-affected people of the agency. He said that the tribesmen of Khyber Agency spent several years in displacement.
“Now that the process of rehabilitation has been started basic facilities have not been arranged in their native areas. We don’t have potable water. Our businesses have been destroyed,” he said.
