The rural areas of the country are full of stories of domestic violence against women and honour killings. In such patriarchal societies, women disproportionately carry the burden of honour, leaving them more exposed to violence, often at the hands of those closest to them.
The government, law-enforcement agencies and the judiciary must protect women from such patriarchal violence.
