Police official kidnapped

BANNU: Armed persons kidnapped a sub-inspector of police of the Bakkakhel Police Station on Friday.Sources said that Sakhi Zaman, a resident of the Ghoriwala area, was on his way to the police station on a bike when unidentified armed men intercepted him and kidnapped him at gunpoint. Meanwhile, an outlawed militant organization claimed responsibility for the kidnapping.

Regional Police Officer Bannu Imran Shahid confirmed the kidnapping of the policeman Sakhi Zaman. He said that efforts were underway for the safe recovery of the kidnapped official.Lawlessness has increased in southern districts, including Bannu, over the last few months. The people of Bannu recently staged a rally and sit-in to demand the authorities to restore peace.
