Training on quality assurance in higher education starts at UoP
PESHAWAR: Quality Enhancement Cell for Affiliated Colleges (QECACs) unit of the University of Peshawar has started training on quality assurance in higher education for its affiliated colleges at Sahibzada Abdul Qayyum Khan Auditorium
Vice-Chancellor University of Peshawar Prof Dr Muhammad Naeem Qazi welcomed the participants. Capt (retd) Kamran Ahmed Afridi, secretary Higher Education KP, was the chief guest of the opening ceremony while Nasir Shah, director general HEC for KP Region, was the guest of honour.
Ceremony was attended by Prof. Dr. Johar Ali, Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Peshawar, Dr. Imranullah Marwat, director Quality Assurance HED KP, Zahoor Ahmad, in-charge QECAC Unit University of Peshawar along with QEC focal persons of affiliated colleges. More than 100 colleges QEC focal persons are participating in the training in two series of training overall, said an official communique.
Secretary HED Capt (retd) Kamran Ahmed Afridi expressed deep gratitude to the QECACs Unit, University of Peshawar for organising this wonderful training on quality assurance in higher education. He hoped more such initiatives would be organized in future that would contribute to the continuous improvement of the educational standards.
He assured full support to the participants in terms of human and financial resources for implementing quality assurance procedures in KP colleges and universities.He appreciated the quality assurance team of the Higher Education Department (HED) for their unwavering support and efforts in bringing KP colleges into the realm of true higher education, aligning them with university standards.
He shared various reform initiatives taken by HED KP like formation of a curriculum review committee for all BS programmes to ensure uniformity and standardization across universities and colleges, taskforce to formulate policy recommendations for HE, establishment of performance review committees for KP colleges and universities.
He said that in the past, the focus was primarily on increasing the quantity of educational institutions and programmes. “However, our current priority has shifted towards enhancing the quality of education,” he added.
He assured that HED KP remains eager to collaborate closely with HEC Islamabad to further strengthen the institutions, ensuring that we provide the best possible education to the students. At the end Souvenirs were presented to guests by the VC University of Peshawar.
