LG reps urge KP govt to release funds
MANSEHRA: The tehsil, villages and neighbourhood councils’ chairmen on Sunday took out a rally to demand the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to release their development funds and empower them to serve the people.
“We have launched this agitation against the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, which neither released our development funds nor empowered us to serve people of our respective tehsil, village and neighbourhood councils despite repeated commitments,” Sheikh Mohammad Shafee, the chairman of the Mansehra tehsil council, told the rally. The rally, taken out from outside the press club, turned into a protest gathering at the same point after marching through different roads.
The chairmen of villages and neighbourhoods’ councils, including Malik Mumtaz, Basharat Ali Swati, Nadir Khan, Asif Khan, Khurram Shahzad, Bashirudden Tanoli, Javed Lodhi, Yasir Khursheed and Nasira Bibi also addressed the gathering.
Speaking on the occasion, Malik Mumtaz, president of LG Chairmen Ittehad, said that LG representatives from across the district unanimously decided to attend the sit-in being staged in Peshawar on September 4.
