SBP governor receives Rs4m monthly salary, NA told
SBP pays 75% of educational expenses of governor's children along with other benefits, including full medical cover, air tickets, club membership and security expenses
ISLAMABAD: The current State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) governor is receiving Rs4 million salary per month excluding other benefits.
The National Assembly (NA) was informed that SBP Governor Jameel Ahmed’s monthly salary is Rs4 million, while he is also entitled other lucrative benefits.
It was reported that the salary of the current SBP governor was much higher than the previous governors. Former SBP governor Reza Baqir’s salary was Rs2.5 million. In this way, the current SBP governor’s salary is Rs1.5 million more than the former governor.
Jameel Ahmed was appointed on August 26, 2022. In addition to the salary, the SBP governor is also entitled to a house rent allowance, while maintenance and furnishing is also the responsibility of the bank. Two vehicles with driver are also provided to him along with 600 liters of petrol per vehicle every month. One vehicle is 1600cc and the other is 1800cc.
He is allowed to hire four employees whose salary is Rs18,000 each. SBP Governor Jameel Ahmed is also given 1,200 liters of fuel.
The bank pays his electricity, gas, water, entertainment and mobile bills.
The SBP also pays 75% of educational expenses of his children along with other benefits, including full medical cover, air tickets, club membership and security expenses.
