We will rule for next 16 years as well, says Murad
"We have set up a rain emergency cell at the CM House and are solving people ‘s problems," CM says
KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah that we have been in government for the last 16 years and will rule for the next 16 years as well.
He made this claim late on Friday night as he went out on a survey of Karachi’s different areas with a provincial minister and Karachi Mayor Karachi Murtaza Wahab.
During his visit to II Chundrigarh Road, Saddar, Sharea Faisal and Nursery areas, the CM reviewed the rain emergency initiatives taken by the administration.
Accompanied by Local Government Minister Saeed Ghani and the mayor, he also visited the CPS pumping station, which sends sewage water to the sea through pumps. He inspected II Chundrigarh Road, where he reviewed cleanliness and drainage of rainwater, a spokesman said.
At Nursery, the mayor informed the CM about the cleaning of the storm water drain. During his tour of Saddar’s Abdullah Haroon Road and the Electronics Market, Shah expressed satisfaction over the clearing of roads.
On a query from a journalist, he said Murtaza Wahab wakes up at night and we sleep at night, but today he thought he himself would stay awake and see the city.
He noted that the city’s drainage system performed better in 2022 rains and now the rains of 2024 are going on intermittently, with workers of local bodies performing their duties day and night. He said the city is in a better condition due to the hard work of local bodies’ workers.
The CM said eastern districts have received more rainfall than the average and the low-lying areas of many districts and cities have been inundated. We have set up a rain emergency cell at the CM House and are solving people ‘s problems, he added.
Earlier, he said he had gone to see the problems of the Right Bank and saw the houses of the flood victims, who were very happy. He mentioned his visit to Tando Muhammad Khan, where he met flood victims. The residents of newly constructed houses thanked PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto, he added.
CM Shah said Manchar Lake has 115 feet of water and the water from the lake will flow into the river. He said we are facing rains and floods due to climate change issues. We are also working on a new afforestation project, which will improve the environment.
He made it clear that we are supporting the federal government but are not part of the government. He said that roads in Karachi have been damaged due to rains and will be repaired.
On a question, the CM said, “We have been in government for the last 16 years and will rule for the next 16 years.”
In Hyderabad, he said, water is drained through pumps and the pumping stations are not working properly due to lack of electricity.
