Naseem urges teammates to learn from past mistakes
LAHORE: Pakistan’s fast bowler Naseem Shah has called on the national cricket team to learn from past mistakes. Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, Shah emphasised the importance of playing collectively and improving from previous shortcomings. He acknowledged the team’s recent struggles but noted that such phases are common in cricket and can serve as learning opportunities.
Naseem reflected on the team’s disappointing performances in recent series and major tournaments. He stressed the need to endure criticism and use it as motivation to bounce back stronger as a team. “This is a good chance to bounce back, play better, and show up as a team. That’s what I’m hoping for,” Shah remarked. The young pacer also expressed his enthusiasm about returning to red-ball cricket after a 13-month hiatus. However, he admitted that the transition after such a long break comes with its own challenges, particularly the pressure of international cricket. He mentioned that he has been gradually increasing his bowling workload to regain his form after recovering from injury.
In addition to discussing his fitness and form, Naseem highlighted a challenge faced by players working with foreign coaches: the language barrier. He noted that communication can be difficult when there is a language difference, emphasising the need for effective translation to ensure clear communication with the coaching staff.
