NOWSHERA: Two alleged robbers were killed in a police encounter in Meshak village in Misri Banda of Nowshera district, police sources said on Sunday.
They said the police were tipped off that a gang of alleged armed robbers was hiding in an abandoned building in Meshak village in Misri Banda.
A police party headed by Sub-Divisional Police Officer Fazal Subhan and Station House Officer Misri Banda, Muhammad Ali Khan, raided the hideout of the alleged robbers.
Upon seeing the police party, the robbers opened fire on the personnel to escape arrest. However, the police promptly returned the fire which continued for some time.
Later, the police recovered the bodies of two robbers from the building during the search operation.
One of the robbers was identified as Sanaullah, the ringleader of robbers’ gang, while the identity of the other one could not be ascertained.
The police said weapons were recovered from the spot.
It was learnt that Sanaullah was wanted to Misri Banda police for several crimes of heinous nature.
