Favouritism alleged in pay raise
PESHAWAR: Wood group employees of the Pak-German woodworking centre have accused Small Industrial Development Board (SIDB) of increasing salaries of its employees and ignoring them without any justification.
The Pak-German woodworking centre has been working under SIDB but has never heeded the problems faced by the employees, they said in a statement on Sunday.Pak-German Woodworking Center Union President Murtaza Khan and General Secretary Muhammad Shahid demanded Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and SIDB managing director to take notice of injustice meted out to them.
The office-bearers of the union warned that they deserved the right to launch protests if their salaries were not increased. They said that the increase in their salaries was their genuine demand and SIDB deputy director had pledged at the meeting with the union that their salaries would be increased.
However, they said the SIDB made a 30 percent increase in the salaries of their employees but ignored the employees of the wood centre. The union leaders said the Pak-German woodworking centre supplied furniture to most of the government departments and earned huge money. However, the wood group employees, who were the backbone in running the centre, were ignored who were getting meagre salaries.
