A tea shop owner was shot dead on Burns Road on Thursday. The incident took place near Baba Ice Cream on Burns Road within the limits of the Aram Bagh police station. Following the incident, police and rescuers transported the casualty to the Civil Hospital, Karachi, where the deceased was later identified as Azmatullah, the owner of a hotel.
The incident occurred at 8am and the victim's brother-in-law was also present at the time. Police reported that there were four to five customers at the hotel during the shooting, but none of them saw the shooter.
Eyewitnesses reported hearing a single gunshot. The victim was shot once in the right side of the head, and an empty shell of a .30 bore pistol was found at the scene. The victim was a resident of Eidgah Ground in Manghopir area and hailed from Shangla, Swat. Police stated that the incident appeared to be a targeted killing, likely over personal enmity, and it was suspected that the shot was fired from a distance. Police were trying to obtain CCTV footage from the surrounding area to assist in the investigation. Further investigation is underway.
