PCB bolsters player support staff with new coaches
LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the appointment of two new members to the national team’s support personnel.
David Reid (Mental Performance Coach) will be joining the team on May 20 and staying on until the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. Simon Helmot (Fielding Coach) is starting on May 31 for the USA and Caribbean tours.
Aftab Khan, the current fielding coach, will transition to the role of High-Performance Coach for the T20 World Cup. PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi emphasised the importance of mental health for elite athletes, stating that Reid’s appointment reflects the PCB’s commitment to providing holistic support. Reid’s extensive experience working with high-performing individuals and teams is expected to be a valuable asset to the Pakistan cricket team. The addition of Helmot, a seasoned fielding coach, aims to further refine the team’s fielding abilities.
