LG reps lock offices in protest against nonpayment
PESHAWAR: The Local Government elected representatives locked the offices at the Capital Metropolitan Government and set up a protest camp at the entrance on Monday.
Chairmen of neighbourhood councils including Akhundzada Zahidullah Shah, Arbab Wisal, Noor Ghulam, Imran Salarzai and others, after locking the offices, established the protest camp till acceptance of their demands. They also stopped officials from entering the offices. The elected representatives had also closed the west zone in protest.
They demanded the transfer of the director general of the Capital Metropolitan Government and the withdrawal of decision to transfer the assets of the metropolitan government to tehsils. The protesting LG representatives demanded uniform fees for birth, death and marriage certificates. They demanded Rs20,000 monthly rent for the offices and clearance of all the arrears of their honorarium. The protesters demanded the release of the development funds as per the Provincial Finance Commission.
