Once again, land mafia has become active to occupy land of innocent public because of stoppage of Nadra Verification System for two weeks here in registration branch of Tehsil and Kutchery. The city district government, Rawalpindi has stopped ‘Nadra Verification System’ for two weeks whereas this system was the main hurdle for land grabbers.

NADRA verification system was still functional in all cities in Punjab province to avoid fake documents during registration or ‘intiqal’.

Sub-Registrar (Cant) Ah-med Hasan Ranja told ‘The News’ that ‘Nadra Verification System’ was fruitful to shun land grabbers. It was necessary to verify computerised Identity Card through Nadra Verification System before registration of a document. But, this system has been non operation for some days, he claimed.

Some four years back, late Assistant District Collector (ADC) Muhammad Arshad Warraich had introduced ‘NADRA Verification System’ to avoid ‘land mafia’ here in Potohar region. The system was smoothly running while the hands of ‘land mafia’ strictly tied for four years. Other cities of Punjab including Lahore, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Sialkot etc also adopted this practice at that time.

The registration branch in Tehsil and Kutchery through ‘Nadra Verification System’ registered dozens of FIRs against people for showing up fake CNICs.

A key post official of city district government, Rawal-pindi, on condition of anony-mity said that ‘land mafia’ pressurized some officers of local management to stop ‘Nadra Verification System’. The powerful land mafia has stopped CNIC verification in Rawal-pindi.

Talking to ‘The News’ people belonging to different walks of life strongly condemned stoppage of ‘Nadra Verification System’ adding that ‘land mafia’ will be active once again. Punjab government allowed ‘Nadra Verification System’ only to stop land mafia but city district government, Rawalpindi has stopped this system for two weeks, they denounced.
