LAHORE:An increase of 5 degrees Celsius in the temperature has been forecasted in Punjab on May 10 (today). According to the PDMA spokesperson, the temperature will increase 5 degree Celsius in Punjab on Friday. According to the spokesperson, the heat wave will hit plain areas and there are chances of dusty winds, thundershowers and heavy rain south Punjab from May 10 to 12. PDMA DG Irfan Ali Kathia urged citizens to take precautionary measures to avoid heat wave. He advised them to drink more water and avoid going out in the sun.
Meanwhile, heatwave continued to prevail in the city though the city sky was covered withscattered clouds here on Thursday while Met office predicted similar weather conditions for the next 24 hours.
Met officials said continental air was prevailing over most parts of the country while a westerly wave was expected to approach upper and central parts of the country from today evening/night. They predicted that mainly hot and dry weather was expected in most parts of the country, while very hot with dust raising/gusty winds in central and southern parts.
Rain-windstorm/thunderstorm was expected at isolated places in north Balochistan, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, upper Punjab, Islamabad, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. Thursday’s highest maximum temperature was recorded at Dadu, Jacobabad and Mohenjo Daro where mercury reached 48°C while in Lahore it was 40°C and minimum was 26.2°C.
