Infant dies as mother with three kids attempts suicide

GUJRANWALA: A six-month-old girl died after her mother along with three children attempted suicide over a domestic dispute at Wazirabad.

Kalsoom, a resident of Jinnah Colony, had a quarrel with her husband. In a fit of frustration, she seriously injured her three children with the blows of a sharp-edged weapon. She also injured herself with the same weapon. The woman and her three children were being shifted to a hospital when the six-month-old girl died due to excessive bleeding. Police have started investigation.

Crackdown on tandoor owners: The district administration continued its crackdown on the Tandoor owners to implement the prices of Naan and Roti here.Total 1,288 raids had been conducted by the assistant commissioners and the price control magistrates in Gujranwala and Wazirabad districts.

Total 42 shopkeepers were fined Rs 94,000 for selling overpriced Roti and Naan while three persons were arrested on the spot. Till now, 1,037 Tandoors had displayed flexes containing the prices fixed by the Punjab government at prominent places. The weight of Roit and Naan was also being checked during the raids. Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Tariq Qureshi said that reduction in the prices of Naan and Roti would be strictly implemented.

Man killed on road: A man was killed and another injured in an accident on GT Road here.Faisal Iqbal along with his friend was on way home when his motorcycle collided with a car. As a result, Faisal was killed on the spot while his friend was injured. He was shifted to a hospital by the Rescue 1122.
