Drive against gas theft: Factory’s connection severed for using domestic meter

LAHORE: Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited, Lahore Region's task force in connection with anti-gas theft campaign has conducted another major operation, in the Kahna area of Lahore.

A team from the special task force (STF) raided a factory that was using a domestic gas meter for its operations. The factory was using gas worth Rs400,000 to Rs500,000 per month. The STF team disconnected the gas connection and recovered gas meter from site. The meter has been sent to SNGPL laboratory for testing to determine if it had been tampered.

In addition to this operation, the STF teams also conducted raids in other areas of Lahore and disconnected 12 more gas connections for illegal use of gas. The STF team imposed fines of Rs1.5 million on the violators for gas theft and violation of the gas agreement.

Sui Gas Lahore Region is committed to curbing gas theft and ensuring the availability of gas to its legitimate customers, said SNGPL spokesperson.
