Aitzaz urges Nawaz to accept opposition ToRs, declare assets
KARACHI: PPP leader Aitzaz Ahsan has urged Nawaz Sharif to accept the ToRs of opposition parties if he was innocent in the light of Panama Leaks.
Talking to the media on Wednesday, Aitzaz said the opposition parties have agreed that accountability should be started from the PM since his sons have confessed to having billions of rupees in their offshore holdings. He urged Nawaz to inform the public about his savings and tax returns dating back to the tenure when was the Punjab CM.
All the opposition parties have agreed on ToRs to probe Panama Leaks allegations and nine political parties are in favour of the PM’s resignation while only two political parties opposed the demand, he said.
The PPP leader demanded that Nawaz should brief parliament how the Nandipur power project cost escalated from Rs30 billion to Rs80 billion. A nine-member committee of the opposition parties met at Aitzaz’s residence in Islamabad where they developed 15-point ToRs.
