KARACHI: Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain on Monday took back his decision of resigning from the party on the insistence of party workers.
According to details, party members were reprimanded on their acts and a decision has also been taken to suspend some members of the coordination committee. While addressing an emergency meeting of party leaders and workers via telephone from London earlier Altaf Huusain announced his resignation from the party leadership and asked the MQM workers to elect a new party chief by the evening.
Altaf Hussain also asked the party leaders to dissolve the MQM completely and devote themselves to charitable services through the Khidmat-e-Khalq Foundation (KKF).He said that he is being criticised and abused for the past 40 years because he was the head of the MQM. Altaf said that he couldn’t bear the criticism and abuses any more.
The MQM chief asked his party workers to choose a new party leader with consensus, specifically pointing towards senior leader Farooq Sattar.Party workers responded with chants in favour of their leader and disapproved his decision but Altaf Hussain refused to listen to them and said his decision is final.
The MQM chief also strongly criticised the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chief Imran Khan and denied all the allegations leveled by Imran Khan against him.Altaf Hussain said that the MQM is blamed of cooperating with former president Pervez Musharraf. Imran Khan should explain whether he favored Musharraf in the referendum or not, he added.
He said that Imran promised during the sit-in that he would not go home unless a revolution takes place but after his marriage both the container and revolution vanished from the scene.Altaf Hussain said Imran insulted the police force by rescuing his armed workers from their custody whereas Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was aware of the incident but did not take any action against it.
MQM leaders on the other hand said that Altaf Hussain should take back his resignation decision as they are not eligible to handle the party; therefore, Altaf Hussain himself should head the party.
Meanwhile, the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has reversed its decision of issuing a show-cause notice issued to its leader Faisal Sabzwari.According to reports, the MQM Rabita committee has returned its show cause notice to Faisal Sabizwari after he submitted a pardon.
It is worth mentioning here that the MQM issued a show-cause notice to Faisal Sabzwari for not attending the important meeting. MQM Chief Altaf Hussain has directed the Rabita committee to issue show-cause notices to those members who didn’t attend important meting.According to another report the MQM on Monday filed a petition in the SHC asking it to declare the seats of resigned PTI members as vacant.
