PESHAWAR: A local Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Saturday issued non-bailable arrest warrants for 24 accused involved in the attack on a police post in Hayatabad during the last year’s mayhem on May 9.
Issuing the non-bailable arrest warrants, ATC Judge Muhammad Adil Khan also ordered the Hayatabad Police Station to produce the nominated 24 accused, including provincial Minister Adnan Qadri, on the next hearing on March 30.
When hearing in the case started, only 25 accused appeared in the court while 24 did not turn up for trial.
Upon this, the judge issued non-bailable arrest warrants and also ordered Hayatabad Police Station House Officer to produce the nominated 24 accused on the next hearing.
They were accused of ransacking the police post in Hayatabad and creating law and order situation in the area.
Dozens of cases ranging from terrorism to corruption were registered against the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leaders and activists for allegedly attacking police stations and other public properties during protest demonstrations against the arrest of ousted former minister Imran Khan.
Cases were also registered against hundreds of accused, former ministers, lawmakers, local government representatives and PTI activists for ransacking private and public properties and violating law of the land.
